Molding Machinery and Related Plastic Auxiliary Equipment - Uses and Types
Uses for Plastics Molding Machinery
Molding machinery is one of the chief methods by which components are created out of plastic. Molding machinery is plastics processing machinery that consists of several different types and models. These types include blow molding, vertical injection, horizontal injection, rotational molding, and extrusion molding machinery. Of these machines there are many makes and models as well as related plastic auxiliary counterparts.

Uses for Molding Machinery
Molding machinery is used for creating plastics pieces and objects with a variety of uses from endoscopic tools used in surgeries to toys and game pieces, cutlery and bottles of all kinds. Plastic materials of all kinds that are made from molds are commonly manufactured by using molding machinery.

How Does Molding Machinery Work?
Molding machinery heats resin while pushing the heated materials toward a mold using drag flow process. The resin is first inserted manually or automatically into a hopper and then moved through the machine by hydraulic power.
Resin is pushed forward while dryers remove any moisture in the materials. The heated material is pushed toward a mold and when it reaches the mold, is cooled there, creating the desired plastic component.
Different Types of Molding Machinery Create Different Plastic Components
- Blow Molding
- Vertical Injection Molding
- Horizontal Injection Molding
- Extrusion Molding
- Blow Molding
The desired shape of a component is distinguished by means of a mold with two halves and the use of air pressure. Center and side feed capabilities are the most common crosshead die assemblies for blow molding.
Vertical Injection Molding
Space saving vertical machines allow for mold alignment, automatic operation and are equipped with convenient operation options.
Horizontal Injection Molding
Manually operated, an operator may open the gate to take the plastic components out of the machine after they have cooled as well as navigate the control panel. The machine operator conducts maintenance and servicing of the molding machine.
Using thermoplastic resins, plastic components are created when the machine injects resin into molds. Extrusion molding often consists of the manufacturing of plastic sheets and tubing.
Related Plastic Auxiliary Equipment
Plastic Auxiliary Equipment compliments molding machinery in many ways. Granulators, for instance, prepare recyclable materials into resin and pellets to be used in molding machinery, chillers, hot oil units, material loaders automatically load resin into the molding machinery and vacuum pumps
